NGLIDE

NGLIDE is a reliable 3Dfx Voodoo Glide wrapper program for Windows that allows you to play games designed for 3Dfx Glide API without a compatible graphics card. Please note that all three versions are supported, namely 2.1, 2.4 and 3.0. Moreover, the utility translates all Glide calls to Direct3D.

Technical notes

Glide is a computer graphics application programming interface. It was developed as an open source project by 3dfx Interactive for their three-dimensional accelerator cards. The technology is based on the world view of OpenGL graphics library, and basic geometry.

Games and resolution

It is necessary to point out that you have the ability to play DOS Glide games, provided you have a third-party tool called DOSBox. The wrapper supports 16:10 and 16:9 widescreen resolution and it is recommended to set the original 4:3 aspect ratio for these resolutions to avoid image stretching.

You can also adjust the screen refresh rate. For instance, it is possible to set it to the maximum values supported by your monitor. Other settings include vertical synchronization, gamma correction, and 3dfx logo splash screen. The latter feature is enabled by default. In order to commit the changes, you need to click the Apply button.
