Kid Pix

Kid Pix is a Windows application which lets kids and adults make 3D animated stories. It is not a game but a fully functional creative environment complete with a set of diverse tools.

General

The software is primarily aimed at elementary school kids who are just beginning to use computers. The interface is very detailed and easy to navigate. The app illustrates every tool available with an animated icon and individual sound. When you move the cursor over the bucket it shakes and clunks. If you use it, you will hear a splash.

You can choose from a catalog of painted and filmed backgrounds as well as modify them by painting or adding 3D animated characters, each with a unique movement pattern. Similar to other graphics editors like Aseprite, it is possible to undo actions, copy and paste objects using keyboard shortcuts.

Advanced functions

There also are more ways to add life to your project. You can select and drag characters on the screen to set them on an animated path or add your own narration sound file to the scene.

When you have placed all the necessary items and added music, you may want to save your work to the slideshow menu. There you have an option of arranging multiple pictures and connecting them with transitions to create a mini movie.
