Camel Audio Alchemy is a powerful synthesizer plugin for Windows that allows you to create digital music using a variety of in-built controls and special effects.

Overview

The software’s architecture revolves around various sound generating modules, which are known as Sources. These are more complex analogues of standard oscillators and have three types of synthesis modes, namely Additive, Spectral and Granular.

When importing a sample, you are prompted to choose one of the aforementioned modules. These determine how the audio is analyzed and which of the modules are most appropriate for the current project.

However, the simplest way to create sounds is to use the Additive component in virtual analog mode. It offers you a wide range of simple wave shapes, a symmetry control for modulation effects and a voice count knob.

What is more, the application has a built-in library of instruments, effects and loops. Similar to Cubase, here you can import your own WAV or AIFF files.

Advanced tweaking

As well as these sound-generating elements, there is also a section for applying up to three filters in series or parallel to each Source. Moreover, there are 15 different filter modes, including the usual band pass options, as well as ring modulation and tube emulation.
