Nessus is a Windows program that lets users scan the local network and detect potential threats and suspicious activity. There are flexible tools for regularly generating security reports. All parameters can be configured via a modern web interface in any browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Connection

After opening the start page you can click the Settings button for adjusting advanced network options. It is possible to add a custom proxy server by specifying its address and user credentials. Several common authentication methods are supported. Additionally, there are tools for configuring the plugin feed source and entering the encryption password in case the system is protected.

It is necessary to register on the official website for accessing main functionality. Users are prompted to enter the business email and other account details.

Vulnerability assessment

All required plugins are downloaded and installed automatically on first startup. You can perform a variety of tests for determining the current security level. There are instruments for detecting potential threats and monitoring the network in real time.

Please note that Nessus is distributed on a commercial basis. There is a free trial version that can be evaluated for 7 days after installation.
