SLIC Toolkit is a Windows utility for extracting the serial number, certificate and software licensing information from a portable computer. An SLP diagnostic tool is available as well.

What is SLIC

Some laptop manufacturers place a special digital signature inside the laptop BIOS that contains a software licensing description table (SLIC). It is used for automatic Windows activation and hardware verification. After installing a fresh operating system certain features may be unavailable due to the lack of a digital certificate. This program allows you to back up the signature before erasing the original OS.

It is strongly recommended to backup the BIOS before making any changes. Users can download BIOS Backup ToolKit for this purpose.

How to use

The main interface consists of five tabs: Basic, Advanced, SLP1.0, ACPI and Memory Access. The first window allows users to analyze a SLIC table dump. It is possible to update the information by clicking the Refresh button.

You can switch to the Advanced tab for extracting the digital certificate. This panel also contains the vendor name as well as the BIOS version and size.

There are tools for accessing and modifying the SLP and ACPI parameters. These features are oriented toward experienced users.
