SharpCap is a Windows program that allows you to record and analyze pictures and video from telescope cameras. There are tools for data processing as well as for building advanced histograms and graphs.

Capturing photos

This software contains instruments for obtaining images from telescope cameras manufactured by Altair, AstcamPan, Celestron, QHY and other companies. Moreover, it is possible to work with any DirectShow-compatible devices. Previously saved images can be imported as well.

Users are able to set time limits for the capture. Additionally, there is an option to specify the maximum number of frames to be recorded. There are third-party programs such as Photoshop for enhancing picture quality before further processing.

Additional capabilities

Multiple included focusing tools can be used for deblurring the output results. There are options for tracking separate objects in the pictures. You are able to adjust the movement speed and calibrate the coordinates.

Custom graphs and color histograms can be created with the help of this utility. Advanced settings for the polar alignment and pixel value readout are available. There is a sequencer for building automation scripts and designing complex capturing sessions.
