InstallShield is a Windows utility for generating setup packages. Users can create executable MSI files that are fully compatible with Windows Installer.

Project creation

There are flexible instruments for configuring installation parameters. The first step is to choose the correct type of project. Available options include:

basic MSI;
merge module;
InstallScript;
advanced UI;
and MSIX.

After that you can add all required components to the project. It is possible to combine several installation packages into one setup client.

An option to convert MSI files to the MSIX format is available. The program will automatically check the package for compliance with Microsoft MSIX standards. Users can easily import additional resources into the project.

It is important to mention that the free trial version of InstallShield will stop working 14 days after installation.

Interface

This application allows you to change the visual appearance of all dialog windows that are displayed during the installation process. All text blocks, tooltips and company logos are fully customizable. Moreover, there is an option to scan the system for detecting earlier versions of the same program.
