Gene Designer

Gene Designer is a Windows program oriented toward scientists and university students. There are instruments for building and analyzing genetic sequences. Adobe AIR is required for working with this application.

New construct

After starting the utility you can add DNA and AA elements to the workspace by dragging them to the workspace. The name and color of every component are customizable.

The DNA Sequence text field allows users to enter corresponding alphanumeric strings. There is a toggle for selecting the correct element orientation. Moreover, it is possible to add personal notes to every sequence.

You can insert complex codon usage tables into the project. The list of available values is opened automatically. It contains the type of amino acid and codon count number for all sequences.

Please note that Gene Designer does not provide tools for haplotype analysis. Users can download Haploview for this purpose.

Additional capabilities

There are instruments for adding prokaryotic and eukaryotic regulatory elements to the project. Additionally, you are able to attach fusion tags, secretion signals and membrane proteins to any component.

A library of standard antibiotic resistance and counter-selectable markers is included. The application lets users work with custom NEB and Xbrane vectors as well.
