BackTrack
Discontinued Linux distribution for authorized security assessment; its maintained successor is Kali Linux.
About BackTrack
BackTrack was a bootable Linux distribution containing tools for penetration testing, network assessment and digital forensics. It was not a regular Windows program and was intended for trained users working with explicit authorization.
Project status
BackTrack 5 was the final branch. In March 2013 Offensive Security released Kali Linux as a ground-up, Debian-based evolution of BackTrack.
Why the old ISO is blocked
The iowin 5 R3 ISO has no verified checksum or antivirus scan, and the obsolete operating system no longer receives security fixes. Use a current official Kali image and documentation for a lab or authorized assessment.
Features
- free to download and use;
- compatible with modern Windows versions;
