BackTrack is a Windows program environment that enables you to audit the security of wireless networks. The utility provides many tools for penetration testing and threat detection. With it you can easily assess the level of security of servers and other web resources. It is worth mentioning that this software is widely used in digital forensics.
Since this is a Linux-based OS distribution, you will need to create bootable media by writing an ISO image to it with tools like LC ISO Creator. You can also use VirtualBox to emulate the operating system.
All actions in the program are carried out via the command line. The list of available tools includes Aircrack ng, Nmap, Ophcrack, Ettercap and others.
The utility allows you to find the vulnerabilities of wireless access points and choose a password to connect to them. What is more, it is possible to use a network scanner to intercept traffic. Packet swapping is also supported. Additionally, the program allows you to perform stress testing to assess the resistance of the network to loads and generate detailed reports.
