TXD Workshop is a powerful program for Windows that allows you to work with textures for various GTA games. Thanks to this utility, you are able to open IMG archives to swap or add items with a couple of clicks.

Brief review

The application supports a considerable amount of titles in the series, namely the older ones such as GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas and the Vice City version developed specifically for Xbox. It is a reliable choice for modders who work with textures or design and add new objects to the in-game world. If you want to modify newer titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Max Payne 3 and GTA V, you may use another tool called OpenIV.

Supported formats

After launch, you are greeted with a simple yet comprehensive graphical user interface. Here you have the ability to open either an IMG or TXD file. The first one usually contains different textures and models. For example, in GTA San Andreas it is named GTa3.IMG and is located in the MODELS folder. The second format is dedicated solely to textures and may include every visual effect in the game.

Change textures

In order to change the appearance of the model, you need to open an IMG file. Once you do that the main window will display a list of items. The entries marked with white color are textures. You have the ability to select the ones you want to change and swap them with your own images.
