Resource Hacker is a program for Windows designed to serve as a resource compiler. Thanks to this tool, you are able to view and edit the contents of EXE, DLL, SCR and MUI files. Like jZip, it also allows you to extract pictures, audio and video recordings.

After launching the application, you need to select the appropriate executable file for decompilation. The resource structure is presented as a directory tree. It is possible to view and edit program code, images, dialog boxes and other elements.

In addition, the retrieve and replace resources feature is supported as well. It is necessary to note that you have the ability to add new windows and buttons. Alternatively, you may control the utility from the command line interface.

Edit and compile

The software enables you to create and compile scripts with the RC extension. What is more, you can make changes to the interface and translation programs into other languages via the built-in editor component. During the resource compilation process, error messages are automatically logged and displayed. It is necessary to note that additional directives are supported.
