OpenSplit is a lightweight Java-based program for Windows that allows you to split or merge game files larger than four gigabytes on your personal computer. What is more, after processing the items, Open Manager will be able to detect the stored content.

Goal

Video games for Playstation 3 have files over 4 Gb which, due to the limitations of FAT32, may cause issues if you are planning on using it on an external hard drive or USB stick. Fortunately, there are a variety of solutions to this problem, such as OpenSplit. If you want to connect and map PS3 gaming controllers, you may try tools such as InputMapper or MotioninJoy.

How to use

After launching the application, you are greeted with a simple graphical interface, consisting of three gray buttons on a black background. In order to split big files, you need to pick the corresponding option, and the utility will scan all subfolders and perform the cutting procedure in a manner appropriate for Open Manager version 1.0. Please note that all game folders that contain big files will be renamed accordingly. Alternatively, you can try a program that tackles the same issue called PKG Linker.
