XexTool is a Windows program for accessing various types of resources and visual assets from Xbox 360 games that are stored in XEX packages. There is support for different file versions, covering all console editions.

Extraction process

Users can import compatible XEX items by dragging and dropping them into the workspace. This eliminates the need for complex command line manipulations. The next step is to select specific elements to extract such as textures, scripts or entire containers for a focused data exploration.

It is possible to preview unpacked images and models directly in the application, reducing the amount of errors and saving time. Additionally, you are able to import extracted scripts and code files to a third party text editor like Notepad++ for potential modification. Instruments for automatic data reorganization and container unpacking are included as well.

Troubleshooting

All extraction steps are recorded to a separate text file. Users can analyze resulting logs to identify and resolve various technical issues. This functionality is especially helpful for working with corrupted XEX packages.
