WinZix is a Windows software for creating compressed packages containing files and folders. There is support for ZIP, RAR, LZH and other types of archives. It is important to mention that WinZix is discontinued and was replaced with WinZip. The installation files are not available.

Main purpose

With the help of this program users can reduce the size of any file by applying various compression algorithms to it. Instruments for extracting data from previously created archives are available as well. It is possible to protect compressed packages with a personal password to prevent unauthorized access.

Resulting archives can be sent over email or recorded to optical media. You are able to use the utility for creating and storing backup copies of important information.

Interface

The main window contains buttons for creating a new archive and extracting files from existing packages. Users can drag and drop items into the workspace to compress them. The list is sortable by name, size, type and other attributes. There is an option to switch between the table and thumbnail views as well.
