SFunKey is a simple-to-use program for Windows that allows you to remap the functional keys. It is a convenient solution for setting media controls to keyboards that do not have special buttons. If you own an Acer laptop, you may try another utility called Acer Launch Manager.

Brief review

The installation does not take a lot of time to finish and does not require special attention from the user. Once it is done, you are greeted with an intuitive graphical interface, represented by a standard window split into three separate panels. The menu may be brought up by clicking on a system tray icon.

The secondary pane provides access to all twelve functional keys along with the Escape button. All you need to do here is choose a key and pick a corresponding action. It is possible to select various power management options, increase or decrease LCD brightness, adjust volume, playback media, and more.

Additional functions

Besides remapping keys, you can disable running applications, change the interface theme and language, and set the tool to automatically launch at system startup. Moreover, you have the ability to specify a fade out delay and popup speed, customize the transparency levels, and so on.

Performance

The software has minimal impact on computer performance, running on a low amount of RAM and CPU. It is very responsive to commands, and works without causing the operating system to freeze, crash or show error dialogs. We have not encountered any issues while performing our tests.
