This software is designed to emulate the PS2 and displays graphics much better than the original console. You can set resolutions and upscaling with it.
PCSX2
PCSX2 is a tool For Windows that lets you run most games and play them from start to finish, just like on the console. It has a built-in recorder to avoid losses at the highest quality.
Before you begin
After installation, you will be prompted to configure the emulator, e.g. choose a language and set up the bios, memory cards and plugins. The details can also be found in the FAQ.
The emulator requires a legitimate copy of the console’s bios. You cannot use an image downloaded from the Internet or borrowed from friends. To dump the configuration of your PlayStation 2, you need special programs.
The most popular of these tools are FreeMcBoot Memory Card and FreeDVDBoot. The first alternative is suitable for all PS2 versions, except for the latest PS2s whose date code is greater than 8B. It is easier to use, but costs money.
The second option is compatible with a larger number of devices, it is a bit more complicated to use, but you can get it for free.
There are also more technical variants for electronics professionals. If you want to play console games without straining yourself, Xbox 360 Emulator DXBX 0.5 is for you.
Getting Started
All the code and emulation status are displayed in the corresponding window, which you can disable in the settings under “Display console” if you wish.
The emulator provides quick loading and saving for your convenience. To do this, you just need to select a slot in the corresponding line of the Run menu. Before saving, you can also create a backup in the related section.
In the Emulation Settings menu, the default options are such that most games run smoothly, but it is possible to customize them deeply for gamers’ convenience. The screen format can also be adjusted to suit the needs of players and their hardware.
