ISM Office is a Windows utility for creating and editing office documents and spreadsheets in such Indian languages as Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri and many other dialects. There is support for Unicode data and OpenType fonts.

Brief overview

This collection of office programs was created by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing of the Indian government. It includes tools for word processing, database management and online publishing.

You can view the full list of supported Indian languages and dialects on the official website. It is possible to work with OpenType fonts and Unicode documents.

Input methods

The main window contains options for switching between the Inscript, Easy Phonetic and Typewriter modes. Additionally, users are able to select the activation key from three provided options: Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll Lock.

Similar to NHM Writer, there are instruments for inputting Indian characters by enabling a virtual keyboard. You can adjust the layout and change the window transparency level.

Data converter

Tools for automatically translating English documents into the required Indian language are provided. Supported input file formats include TXT, XLSX, DOCX, PPTX, CSV and HTML.
