Thanks to this tool, you can quickly carry out simple backup and copy operations within the command line interface. Procedure simulation is supported.
HoboCopy
HoboCopy is a command line program for Windows intended to copy and backup the data on your personal computer. Although it was inspired by and somewhat resembles Robocopy, there are a number of important distinctions between the two.
Differences explained
Despite the fact that the two utilities share certain traits, they differ greatly in terms of functionality. HoboCopy has fewer features and only allows for simple backup and copy operations. While Robocopy makes no use of the Volume Shadow Service, this tool depends on the integrated Windows capability to create disk snapshots.
Limited usage
Using the application on critical data is not advised, even though it supports basic backup actions. Considering that it is really a hobby project, it does not offer all the functionality that a comprehensive solution of this type does. It cannot, for example, manipulate files that it is not authorized to duplicate. As such, it is designed for simple purposes.
Main capabilities
Through a set of CMD arguments, you can instruct the program to perform backups or transfers. It is possible to carry out full, incremental, or recursive copies of the specified information. You may also delete the destination folder or simply simulate the procedure. If you are seeking more advanced features, you can try a utility called SmartBackup.
