H2testw is a Windows program that allows you to test removable storage devices. With it you can detect errors when recording data. Additionally, you have the option to view detailed reports on the state of the flash drive and the actual amount of its memory.
Setup
The utility does not need to be installed on the computer. All you have to do is unzip the archive using special tools like WinZip and then run the executable file. Next, you can select a removable flash drive or specify the path to the folder that you want to check. It is recommended you format the storage device before proceeding with testing.
Although the software is mainly aimed at USB devices, it can also be used to scan hard disks, network volumes or memory cards.
Functionality
There are two testing methods. In the first case, the application fills the USB memory with files of the same size. This is done to measure the speed at which the data is written. Next, the program reads the information and calculates the amount of available storage.
If the second method is chosen, the utility performs tests in read-only mode. This will not affect the files stored on the flash drive. It is also possible to enable a cyclic check. This means the program will scan until it detects errors in the data transfer process.
