This software allows users to connect to and manage computers in their local network. Additionally, they can view the list of recent and available hosts.
GenControl
GenControl is a simple remote control program for Windows. It allows the authorized administrator to manage another machine over both local area and corporate private networks.
Advantages
This application is different from other remote control utilities like UltraVNC, because it requires no server installation and can be used completely for free. The host machine also does not need any additional software.
Functionality
When starting GenControl for the first time you are presented with a dialogue box. Here you can enter the machine name to connect to. There are various methods for accessing the host. You are able to enter either the name or IP address into the Host Name box and click Connect. It is also possible to double-click on Lan hosts and Recent hosts to quickly access the selected machine.
To automatically scan for hosts, you need to choose the corresponding option in the main menu. After that, the tool will display a list of all available connections in the Lan hosts box. Please note, if a machine appears in this section, it does not mean you have permission to connect to it.
Logging capability
The contents of the Recent hosts and Lan hosts entries are saved between successive runs. They are stored in your user profile directory under Application Data\GenControl. If you have a roaming profile or have a portable machine like a laptop, the contents of these boxes may be totally invalid.
