Digital Music Mentor is a Windows software that lets you convert any song to chords for piano, guitar or bass. There are instruments for slowing down, looping or transposing audio tracks to match your skill level and preferences.

Conversion process

The program is capable of recognizing more than 1000 chords and displaying them on a virtual fretboard or keyboard. Users can view the exact notes of the melody or solo parts of the song on a musical staff and in tablature format.

You are able to measure the tempo of the track and adjust the playback speed accordingly. Additionally, there are tools for changing the key of the song to suit the existing vocal range or instrument tuning.

Please note that Digital Music Mentor is obsolete and no longer supported by the developer. The installation files are not available. There are other applications for beginning musicians like Guitar Dictionary.

Export options

It is possible to save the resulting chords, notes and song tempo as a MIDI file for further modification in any audio editor. Individual sections of the track can be looped an unlimited number of times. This functionality is helpful for practicing and training purposes.
