Bannerbomb is a program for Windows that allows you to initiate homebrews from the Wii System Menu versions 3.0 and 4.2. The exploit was developed by Comex and serves as an alternative to the Twilight Hack, which became ineffective.

Principle of operation

The tool functions by using a corrupted banner, inducing a crash on the Wii console. This enables the execution of code to load the boot.dol file from the root of the SD card. This approach proves effective for installing the Homebrew Browser and BootMii through the HackMii Installer.

Setup

The first step is to connect your SD card with the PC and rename the private directory if it has one. Please note that having other channels on the same storage device will cause damage. Now you can download the ZIP files and extract its contents onto it.

If you have the HackMii Installer on your computer already, you need to copy it to the root of the SD card, and rename it to boot.elf. Once this is done, you can press a special button inside the SD menu and insert the card into the console.

There will be an option to load boot.dol/elf or the screen will freeze. In case the former dialog pops up, you will be able to fill out the survey. To emulate games designed for older consoles on your computer, you may try a utility called Dolphin.
