Agisoft Metashape is a Windows application that allows creating 3D models based on photographs of real objects. The program automatically identifies common points in the images and determines the position, orientation, and internal geometry of the camera based on them. Then, the model is constructed using polygons. There is an option to export the project in various formats.

Construction

Users need to add photos of the real object taken from at least two perspectives. Then, the application processes the data and generates a three-dimensional model. The feature of georeferencing the object to geographic coordinates is supported. Thus, it is possible to use it in mapping systems.

Editing

The utility enables you to manually remove individual frames and details. You also have to specify calibration parameters when capturing images with an analog camera.

It is possible to enhance the image quality as well as adjust a consistent level of brightness and sharpness for photos. It is recommended to set reference points to maintain the object’s proportions. These points also help calculate the area and volume of the object or its parts.

Upon completing the editing process, the program allows exporting the model for further processing and use in computer-aided design systems. Formats such as 3DS, OBJ, and others are supported.
