WinVNC is a Windows application that provides instruments for establishing a remote connection with another desktop. There is support for various VNC compatible server software like TightVNC. Please note that WinVNC is discontinued and no longer supported by the developer. The installation files are not available.

How it works

After installing the corresponding server app on the remote computer you are prompted to specify the username and password for establishing a link. The next step is to enter the same credentials into the WinVNC interface and click the Connect button. All interactions with the remote desktop are performed via a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Advanced capabilities

It is possible to transfer files between the server and client computers. You can exchange text messages with the remote desktop via the integrated chat module as well. All incoming and outgoing network traffic is automatically encrypted to prevent potential leaks.

Users are able to record the contents of a remote screen to a video file on the local machine. The capture quality and frame rate are customizable.
