WinMerge is a Windows application that allows you to compare several files and view the differences in a side by side or horizontal layout. Similar to Compare It, there is an option to merge the changes from one folder to another. Flexible filters for including or excluding certain items based on their name, extension, size, date and other attributes are provided as well.

Comparison

Users can add several files or directories to the project. There are powerful tools for comparing such as ignoring whitespace, letter cases, line endings, comments and timestamps. WinMerge supports syntax highlighting for various programming languages like C#, Java, Python, HTML and XML. This functionality makes it easier to work with the code.

Inline editing

It is possible to modify files directly in the program without having to open them in another editor. You can use toolbar buttons to copy, move, delete and insert lines or blocks of text between the documents.

Shell integration

Instruments for adding WinMerge to the Explorer context menu are included. This way users are able to quickly import files into the application.
