Winmail Opener is a Windows software that allows you to work with Outlook attachments. It can be helpful for sorting old messages without installing an obsolete email client.
How to use
Older editions of Microsoft Outlook convert all files attached to the email message to the proprietary format and save a backup copy to the winmail.dat package. With the help of this utility users can open such media files without setting up a discontinued email client in the system.
After importing the winmail.dat archive into the application you are able to access all embedded images, audio tracks, text documents and spreadsheets as well as view the original email message itself. Decrypted media files and text blocks can be manually saved to any location on the hard drive.
Please note that Winmail Opener is designed to work only with data files generated by obsolete versions of Outlook. It cannot access attachments created by newer editions of the Microsoft email client.
Additional settings
Users can choose one of 22 supported interface languages. There is an option to associate the program with all DAT files as well. Moreover, it is possible to quickly check for updates by clicking the corresponding menu item in the Help menu.
