WinEdt is a program for Windows intended to serve as an editor for text files in various formats. The main goal of this utility is to create Tex and LaTeX documents. In addition, users have the ability to work with web pages written in HTML. Syntax highlighting and spell checking is also supported.

Editing capabilities

After launching the application, you can open an existing document or create a new one from scratch. It is possible to edit items in visual mode or write program code. It is worth noting that you have the option to work with mathematical formulas. Alternatively, you may try another piece of software called MathType.

The tool allows you to develop your own style sheets for text documents. In order to simplify the workflow, the graphical user interface is split into tabs. In addition, you are able to turn on the display of the table of contents.

Additional functions

What is more, you have the possibility to define, modify and run macros to automate the performance of the same type of activity. Similar to TeXnicCenter, you can launch File Explorer, run Command Prompt and other programs from the main window.
