Web Deploy is a special program for Windows that simplifies deployment of web-based applications and websites to IIS servers. Administrators are able to use this tool to synchronize or to migrate to newer versions of Internet Information Services.

This software package empowers Visual Studio to help developers streamline the deployment of web services to Microsoft IIS servers or websites created with Windows Azure. In addition, thanks to integration with Web Platform Installer, users can easily install community web applications.

Repackage content

Web Deploy gives you the ability to package your web service content, configuration, databases and other items like registry and GAC assemblies, which may be used for storage or redeployment. If your project needs to be adapted to a different environment, the configuration values may be parametrized during deployment without additional changes to the files themselves. Once you have created a package, you are able to use the in-built IIS Manager or the cmdline interface to perform the last step.

Sync capabilities

In addition, you can synchronize websites, applications and servers across your IIS server network by detecting differences between the source and destination content and transferring only the necessary modifications.
