Vista Drive Icon is a Windows utility that offers users of modern Windows systems an option to install older images for HDD icons.

Design of Windows Vista

This utility will replace modern HDD icons with the ones from Vista in Windows 7 and newer versions. Vista Drive Icon is a part of Windows Aero interface. There are refreshed icons for hard drives in the Computer folder. They have indicators for the amount of free space left on the devices.

How to install the old icons

The software can be set up by clicking the executable file. This will open the Setup Wizard window, where users can press the Next button to start the installation process. It is necessary to agree with the License Agreement terms on the following page.

It is possible to install the program anywhere on the PC. After choosing the destination directory you can click Install to perform the required operations. The final step is to select the option “Run Vista Drive Icon 1.5” and press Finish.

The Vista icons are now displayed in the Computer folder. To modify the Windows appearance even further users can utilize tools like Windows Theme Installer and Windows 7 Folder Background Changer.

It is possible to go back to the native icons of your system by uninstalling Vista Drive Icon.
