Unity Assets Explorer is a Windows program that enables you to view the contents of the Unity asset files. With this tool, you can extract all models or only selected ones, as well as convert TEX-files into DDS images. It is also possible to import modified objects back into the archive.

How to use

Immediately after launching the utility, you can open the assets file. To do this, you need to click on the Open Assets-file button located on the top of the main window. Once you have selected the desired file, the software will analyze the contents and display a list of items.

If you press the Extract All button, all files will be extracted to the original program folder. To extract one file, you may select it on the list, right-click it and choose the corresponding option in the context menu.

Conversion and import

In order to convert TEX-files into DDS-files during extraction, it is necessary to check the appropriate box in the lower half of the main window. This process works with extraction of all files and individual items.

To import a modified DDS image back into the archive, you first need to extract the original file with enabled conversion settings. Then, you can edit it in various graphics editors like Photoshop. Please make sure that you save it in the correct format and that the file size has not changed.

Once you complete the desired modification, you have to place the image in the default directory. Next, you can select the TEX-file and activate the corresponding option in the context menu.
