Torq DJ is a Windows program that allows you to mix audio tracks to create new music. With it, you can cue, beat-match and mix a variety of digital song formats, including MP3, AIFF, WAV, WMA and AAC.

Interface and basic functionality

The graphical user interface features familiar controls. Similar to DJ ProMixer, here you are able to access levels, playback options, waveforms and effects, as well as your music library. All you need to do to start making music is to drag your MP3 files to Side A or Side B and press play. After this, you can use the standard DJ controls to fine-tune the track.

Beat-matching

Additionally, one each side there is an arrow where the music info is displayed. By clicking on it, you have the option to instantly beat-match that song to the one currently playing on your other side. This means mixing genres such as house, trance, hip-hop and even rock is incredibly easy.

Special effects

The library of special effects is quite limited. There are three options to choose from such as Filter, Phaser and Strobe. Each one comes with its own dedicated knob per side on the mixer. The filter is a mix of low-pass and high-pass filters that provide a fading effect when turned to the right or left. The phaser offers a standard array of sounds. As for the strobe-knob, it creates a delay effect that you can add to your mix.
