Symantec Endpoint Protection is a Windows utility for preventing viruses, trojans, rootkits and other malicious programs from infecting the computer. It is possible to scan the file system automatically in the background. You can configure exceptions and view elements placed in the quarantine.

Scan parameters

Similar to Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, the main purpose of this program is detecting infected files on the hard drive and in the system memory. After starting the app users are able to scan all storage devices for locating suspicious items. Detected threats are displayed in the main window during the analysis. It is possible to immediately delete potentially infected packages or place them in a secure quarantine zone.

The embedded Insight module lets you skip files with a genuine developer certificate. This functionality is helpful for speeding up the scan. Additionally, there is support for the Bloodhound technology that analyzes running applications.

Please note that the free version of Symantec Endpoint Protection will stop updating virus signatures 60 days after activating the trial license.

Online threats

Users can protect all incoming and outgoing web traffic from unauthorized access. The embedded firewall provides flexible filtering and blocking tools. A module for preventing ransomware attacks is included as well.
