Surfer is a Windows 3D modeling software oriented toward engineers, cartographers, geologists and other professional users. There is a spreadsheet processor for advanced data analysis.

Maps

This app lets you create detailed 2D and 3D terrain layouts with the help of the Map Wizard tool. It is possible to choose one of the included templates to view 3D surface profiles, grid values, contours, peaks and depressions. You can adjust isoline viewing parameters.

There are tools for tuning individual terrain sections. Double-clicking the object opens its properties. Users are able to add custom lighting sources, configure shadow settings and change the color saturation for creating photorealistic maps.

It is easy to add multiple layers, images and text inscriptions to the workspace. Finished projects can be exported to a wide variety of formats for further processing in MapInfo Professional or other similar applications.

Calculations

You can work with data spreadsheets to perform various measurements. There are instruments for calculating the area of a custom curved shape or the volume of a 3D object. Moreover, the utility lets you construct algebraic matrices.
