The professional tool was developed to help users design concrete building solutions. Additionally, it is possible to manually specify column openings.
STDesign
STDesign is a robust program for Windows that enables you to optimize the creation and management of slab-column connections. You can use a comprehensive set of instruments for processing applications and tailoring the functionality of specific elements to align with your project requirements.
Building code compliance
The software has evolved from its previous Beta version to include changes that address issues stemming from unconventional geometries and load combinations. While the core calculation routines remain unchanged, the latest release had some noteworthy enhancements.
One of the main improvements is the adoption of different stud rail design standards outlined in ACI 318–08, 318-05, and 421.1R-99. It is also necessary to mention the implementation of ductility requirements from IBC 2003.
Design columns and openings
Additionally, the utility features support for designing round columns as distinct circular entities. There are also flexible input options for specifying openings. This can be done either traditionally by using angles from the column centroid or by providing the size and location details for each hole.
Last but not least, the program includes context-sensitive help for user guidance. Please note that STDesign is no longer maintained by the development team. If you would like to calculate section properties of steel beams, you may try a tool called RISAsection.
