With this comprehensive utility, users can convert scanned documents into digital. Moreover, they have the ability to enhance the definitions of noisy images.
SimpleOCR
SimpleOCR is a lightweight program for Windows designed to help you simplify the task of retyping printed documents if you do not have the digital version of the written information. This simple tool provides optical character recognition functionality, which is basically the transfer process between handwritten or typed text to machine-encoded letters, numbers and special symbols.
Main capabilities
First of all, the utility supports TWAIN scanning, enabling you to scan your document directly within the main interface, which saves time. Please note, you can also manually specify the areas you want to process and edit or extract image zones.
It is worth noting that bold, italic or underlined text is recognized and reapplied, so that the final result will look like the original printed document. What is more, the software uses three dictionary resources such as English, French and Dutch that contain more than one hundred thousand words for a better correlation with the initial input.
Additional notes
The application does not only recognize symbols and associates them with appropriate entries in the database but it also understands the language patterns and provides editing solutions. For example, with a despeckle tool you can remove noise from unclear images. If you want to be able to spell-check your processed documents, you may use a similar utility called TopOCR.
