Shp2kml is a Windows application for working with shapefiles created in Esri Production Mapping. It allows users to transform map layers into the Keyhole Markup Language format. Please note that Shp2kml is discontinued and no longer supported by its developers.
Import
The utility requires Java Runtime Environment for performing all operations. You can open SHP files by clicking the corresponding button in the main window. The shape type is detected automatically. There is a window for previewing the map before applying any changes.
Conversion parameters
Users are able to select one of the supported coordinate systems from a drop-down menu. Available options include North American, S-42, Timbalai 1948 and hundreds of other reference tables. It is possible to switch between the geographic and UTM measurement units.
There are tools for customizing the output KML file by choosing the name, icon style and color of each map layer. The conversion process is fast and efficient. You can transform large amounts of data in a short amount of time. Finished maps are fully compatible with Google Earth.
