Serviio is a robust program for Windows that gives you the ability to easily stream multimedia contents within your home network or to any specific device. All you need to do is install the latest Java version on the host machine, then proceed and deploy the software solution.

Operation

After you manually start your Universal Plug and Play or Digital Living Network Alliance server, the utility will automatically detect compatible devices. The next step is to choose the one you want to use. Please note that depending on the target, profile may be customized to maximize the functionality and ensure that all multimedia files can be correctly displayed.

Then you are able to select the directories that you wish to share and specify the type of item, such as audio tracks, videos or images. It is also possible to toggle the tool to retrieve description metadata for your files and customize the kind of information that will be included when the content is streamed. If you need to store your media on a remote server, you may use TwonkyMedia Server.

Additional functions

It is necessary to note that you can add online sources to your device. In order to do that you have to configure its type, either RSS/Atom feed, Live stream or Web resource, enter the source URL and adjust the display name. This way you are able to enjoy your preferred podcast or television show even if your computer is currently used by another person.
