Thanks to this program, you are able to manipulate songs via the virtual DJ decks. Additionally, you have an option to view the frequency and waveforms.
Serato Scratch Live
Serato Scratch Live is a Windows vinyl emulation software that enables users to scratch and mix digital music. It is worth noting that it operates exclusively with Rane equipment. If you do not have input devices, you can do the same with Atomix Virtual DJ.
Setup
The installation is relatively simple. All you need to do is connect your hardware and make sure that you have the corresponding drivers. Then it is necessary to calibrate the program. You have an option to select the audio input level depending on whether you are using turntables or cd players. Unfortunately, you cannot assign different levels for each virtual deck.
Interface
The utility is very simple to use. There are no overwhelming amounts of settings and only a limited set of features. The main window is clean and very easy to navigate. All interface elements are fixed in position to one another.
The whole program consists of two different screens. The first is the setup menu that allows you to calibrate various settings. The second is the main working area. From here, you can toggle certain popup toolboxes. It is necessary to note that the application should be run in a resolution of at least 1024×768.
Functionality
At the top of the application there are reverse and master gain controls, below these are two virtual decks. When you drag a track to one of the players, an overview window shows up, which displays the layout of the waveforms and frequency content. Once the patterns have been built, they are saved into the actual audio file and you can begin mixing the song.
