Samsung Kies is an official Windows program that enables users to transfer files from their smartphone or tablet to their personal computer. This utility is compatible with Galaxy, Wave and Bada series mobile devices running on Android 4.2 or later. Owners of older Samsung smartphones may use Samsung PC Studio to manage their files.

Setup

After launching the application, you need to connect your smartphone or tablet using a USB cable. Alternatively, you can establish a wireless connection. Please note, not all devices support the latter function.

Data transfer

The utility allows you to copy photos, music, videos and contact lists from your smartphone or tablet. You also have the option to set up automatic data synchronization. Additionally, you may view the items on your phone via the in-built file browser and create backups of your data. There is also a link to the Samsung Apps store where you are able to find apps for your mobile phone and install them straight from your desktop

Firmware update

It is possible to update the firmware on the mobile device. To do this, you have to select the appropriate item in the Tools menu and enter the name of the device. Next, the program will automatically find the latest firmware version and prompt you to install it.
