With the help of this custom motion control firmware users can configure routes for 3D printers, engraving machines, cutting equipment and CNC devices.
RepRapFirmware
RepRapFirmware is a Windows utility for interacting with various types of 3D printers and CNC machines. It contains instruments for planning complex head movements. The firmware is compatible with equipment made by RepRapPro, Ormerod, Mendel and Huxley. MakerBot printers are controlled via MakerWare.
Brief overview
This firmware implements modern 3D printing features such as support for mixing materials and precise step pulse timing during acceleration. It can be used with a wide variety of printing devices from all common manufacturers.
Advanced capabilities
You can accurately calculate the required extruder pressure. Tools for predicting the approximate time necessary for executing the task are included as well. Simulation mode for evaluating the route and fixing potential issues is available. It is possible to program segmentation-free delta motions.
There are instruments for retracting the printing head before the end of a move to prevent drops and rough edges. This functionality is helpful for achieving more accurate results and producing smooth 3D models.
Please note that this firmware is intended for 32-bit processors and not compatible with obsolete hardware.
