This specialized software is intended for processing astronomical images and video recordings. It is possible to set and adjust object alignment points.
RegiStax
RegiStax is a Windows utility that allows users to analyze videos and pictures taken by digital telescopes. There are instruments for correcting object geometry and automatically rotating images to the correct orientation. Luminance parameters can be adjusted as well.
How it works
After starting the program you can click the Select button in the upper-left corner of the main window to choose the image or clip for processing. There is support for the AVI and MPEG video formats as well as for the JPG, BMP, TIFF and PNG pictures. Moreover, you are able to work with SER files created by LuCam recorders.
The next step is to configure alignment points. Users can specify the size and movement characteristics of all objects on the image. There is a checkbox for toggling corrections by the center of gravity.
Video creation
You are able to combine several aligned photos into an AVI clip. The compression quality and framerate are adjustable. It is possible to select a custom area for capturing or use the whole image. The resulting videos can be further edited in Adobe Premiere or another similar utility.
There are advanced luminance settings that allow users to tune separate color channels for enhancing faint objects on the pictures.
