Proton Drive is an online end-to-end cloud storage, suitable for securing sensitive documents that utilizes the same kind of encryption as the other Proton products.

General note

This is a secure online files storage system. Currently, there is only a Web version available as it is still in the beta phase of development. In order to get access to the main functions, it is necessary to register a free account. This also gives you the ability to use other services like the email, calendar and the ProtonVPN utility.

Functionality

This application has the same capabilities seen in other software of that type like in the Google Drive. You are able to simply drop the files into the main working area to upload them. It is worth noting that the storage is limited to 5GB. However, you have the option to buy additional space for a dollar per GB.

Once you have uploaded a file, you have the option to generate a link to share it with friends. It is also possible to protect the link by creating a password for it. Additionally, you may set an expiration date, so that will be automatically disabled after a specified number of days.

Privacy

With most cloud storage services companies are able to monitor and scan your files and profit off your data. They can also potentially hand over your data to third parties. This program enables you to encrypt all your sensitive information on your own device before uploading it to secure servers.
