Primer Express is a scientific Windows program for creating molecular structures and performing various operations with them. There is support for multiple real-time PCR devices manufactured by Applied Biosystems.

This utility is intended for scientists and educators. It contains flexible instruments for designing complex oligonucleotides and analyzing them. Users are able to perform absolute and relative quantification tasks. Additionally, it is possible to calculate allelic discrimination values.

Design process

Users are able to create a new project from the File menu. There are instruments for adding DNA sequences from any external location. After importing all required text blocks users can search through the contents for locating specific primers and probes. The results are displayed in a form of the table with multiple additional parameters for convenient sorting and filtering.

All probes, forward primes and reverse primes are highlighted in pink, blue and yellow correspondingly. The default colors can be adjusted in the settings. There are tools for manual DNA sequence construction.
