This specialized utility allows developers to configure, update and debug various microcontrollers with the help of the PICkit 3 hardware programmer tool.
PICkit
PICkit is a Windows software for interacting with programmer devices from the Microchip Technology company. There is support for a wide variety of controllers such as PIC10F, PIC24 and dsPIC33. Moreover, you can work with 8, 16 and 32-bit families of products.
Connection parameters
The PICkit 3 device is capable of programming Flash-based microcontrollers and serial EEPROM chips manufactured by Microchip. The full list of compatible hardware is available in the included documentation.
After starting the program it will try to automatically identify the connected controller by the Device ID and download the proper firmware for it from the official repository. Alternatively, you can manually specify the hardware type and model and select a custom file for writing to the internal memory. There are apps like CooCox IDE for modifying official firmware packages.
Programming process
The main window contains a HEX code editor for the EEPROM data. Additionally, buttons for reading, writing, verifying and erasing the flash memory module contents are included. Users are able to display unimplemented config bits and choose the correct target VDD source.
Features
- offers you instruments for configuring and debugging Microchip controllers;
- free to download and use;
- it is possible to manually edit all HEX values;
- you can write, read and erase data from flash memory modules;
- compatible with all modern versions of Windows.
