PeaZip is a Windows program that allows users to unpack ZIP, ARC, 7Z, TAR and other common types of compressed archives. It has a file browser, flexible search tools and a checksum calculator for ensuring package integrity.

Brief overview

Using this software you can interact with various types of archives. There is an option to create new packages by dragging and dropping required source files into the workspace. Drop down menus for selecting the output archive type and compression level are included.

Like in WinRAR, it is possible to split the resulting package into several parts. This functionality is helpful for creating data backups on optical disks or sending large archives via email.

Users are able to calculate the checksum of any package to evaluate data integrity. Some damaged or corrupted archives can be automatically repaired.

Security

There are instruments for protecting sensitive information in the package with a personal password. Several advanced encryption algorithms such as 7Z, ARC, AES and Serpent are fully supported. Additionally, you can securely wipe files and folders from any storage device.
