Paint XP
Paint XP is a lightweight Windows program that enables you to use the original Microsoft Paint tool before it was redesigned for newer operating systems.
General notes
One of the major changes to the new MS Paint was the introduction of the ribbon interface. Since Microsoft offered no solution to get rid of it and return to the old look and feel, Paint XP had to be developed. It puts the original graphics editor into a standalone package that can be run without installation. All you need to do is simply launch the executable file and start creating.
Functionality
The application supports a wide range of photo formats. You can draw various shapes, zoom in and zoom out, pick colors, erase and place text using the toolbox placed on the left side of the main window.
The Image drop down menu hides more useful utilities that made the old Microsoft Paint Famous, including:
- flip and rotate;
- stretch and skew;
- invert colors;
- clear image;
- draw opaque.
Moreover, it is possible to resize the image by dragging its corners or via the Attributes menu. There, you have the option to specify the width and height in inches, centimeters or pixels, as well as select the colors mode.
It is necessary to note that in contrast to professional software like Photoshop, this program lacks layer support, as well as more advanced filters and special effects.
