Overture is an advanced program for Windows developed to help composers, music educators, and students in creating tablature scores by inputting notes via the mouse or keyboard. There is also support for recording MIDI performances.

Brief review

The graphical interface may appear overwhelming initially and is not immediately intuitive on first glance. However, there is a help manual as well as various tutorials. These can illuminate the key functionalities of the application.

The tool allows you to inspect a musical score complete with notes, symbols, and lyrics. You can also view and edit your tablature, label and activate tracks. It is also possible to assign MIDI playback devices and define the number of voices within a track.

Advanced capabilities

You have the flexibility to allocate a MIDI instrument definition to every available MIDI port and channel. Similar to MuseScore, the tablature is built by establishing the key and time signatures, including notes, specifying their duration and changing the pitch.

Additionally, you have the option to add a pickup measure, insert a slur, incorporate different symbols like ornaments, articulations, noteheads, etc. You may choose to attach a second voice to the score and adjust stem directions.
