OpenTTD is a simulation game based upon the popular Transport Tycoon Deluxe, which was designed and programmed by Chris Sawyer. The purpose of this distribution is to mimic the original release as closely as possible while enhancing it with new features.

Setting

You play as the president of a transportation company starting in the 1950s, who can build railroads, ordinary roads, as well as air and maritime routes to establish your business empire. Thus, the main goal is to outsmart your competitors by creating passenger and commodities passages to become the highest-ranking shipment company by the year 2050. Alternatively, you may try crafting railroad tracks in Minecraft with the help of the Railcraft mod.

Improvements

While the game is modeled after the original, the project comes equipped with many additional features that enhance gameplay, such as bigger maps, stable multiplayer mode for up to two hundred and fifty five players, IPv6 and IPv4 support for communication of the client and server. There are also improved pathfinding algorithms that make vehicles go exactly where you want them to. In addition, you can build longer and higher bridges using several new designs, and place flexible tracks or roads below them.
