OmniRig
OmniRig is a special program for Windows developed by Afreet Software Inc. to control transceivers via CAT graphical user interface. The software provides multi-threading which allows applications written in different programming languages to manage the same device simultaneously.
Overview
Basically, OmiRing is a server users are able to deploy on their personal computer that can be accessed by several radio-broadcasting programs. Developers have the ability to access the radio in various ways. For example, they may use comprehensive applications like DSDPlus. The server itself is connected to the COM port and polls it at regular intervals. It is necessary to mention that users have the ability to specify the set of commands by editing the corresponding INI file.
Configuration
This configuration document is designed so that the software can match the actions that are performed with the transceiver with the commands that are understood by that particular device. This means, this utility is capable of working with a wide range of transceiver models developed by Kenwood, Yaesu, Icom and others. By default, the necessary initialization files are located on the system drive in the tool’s directory.
