Using this application graphics designers and game developers can generate normal maps from 2D textures, which is essential for creating detailed 3D surfaces.
Normalmap Generator
Normalmap Generator is a Windows utility that allows you to convert various types of images into so called normal maps. Resulting packages are used for adding lighting effects and surface textures to 3D models without increasing the polygon count.
How it works
Users can import source pictures by clicking the Load button in the top left corner of the main window. There is support for multiple common formats such as:
- JPG;
- BMP;
- TIFF;
- GIF, etc.
The software utilizes advanced algorithms to generate high resolution maps, ensuring that the quality of the output matches industry standards. It is possible to adjust parameters like depth intensity, blur and scale, fine tuning the project according to specific requirements. Similar to Bitmap2Material, there is an option to process several items simultaneously in batch mode.
Preview and export
You are able to instantly see how the resulting map will affect the textures before applying it to the final object. This saves time and streamlines the workflow by reducing guesswork. There are instruments for creating different specular, displacement and ambient occlusion maps as well.
Features
- free to download and use;
- intended for creating texture maps based on imported photos;
- you can manually tweak the depth intensity level to suit personal preferences;
- it is possible to preview resulting maps before exporting them to the hard drive;
- compatible with all modern versions of Windows.
